A Great Way to Cut a Pizza Easily and Without Hurting the Baking Sheet or Surface
As far back as I could remember, one of the coolest things as a kid and one of the happiest moments in my life as a kid was pizza day at school. Growing up, most of the time, I didn't eat breakfast. So, when lunchtime rolled around, I was usually really hungry. Most of the time I had a lunch, sometimes I didn't have lunch. My parents meant well and I knew they loved me and wanted the best for me, but sometimes, they would forget to pack a lunch for me. Later on, sometimes there wouldn't be ingredients at home for me to prepare and pack my own lunch.

One time, I was out at lunch break, but didn't have a lunch. I was talking to an older kid at school and he didn't have a full lunch, but a snack, an apple or something. He was hungry too and wanted pizza. The nearest pizza place was kinda far and would probably require driving to reach. So this kid and I each checked our pockets and found we each had some cash. Combined, we had enough to get a pizza delivered. So, he and I marched into the school's office and asked to borrow their phone. This was so long ago, we didn't have cell phones or smartphones. There was a staff on duty there and she didn't like the idea of us ordering pizza. We told her our story and how we didn't have lunch and she relented after we pulled out our money and showed her that we had enough for the pizza plus a tip.

After 30 minutes or less, the pizza arrived. We paid for it and literally just sat on the curb at the front of the school and split a pizza. I don't remember exactly what we ordered, it was probably pepperoni or pepperoni, green peppers, and mushrooms, but the pizza was pretty darn tasty. This older kid and I weren't friends, but were on friendly terms. I ran into him later as we went to the same high school and I felt we kinda drifted apart. I don't really mind, I just hope he is doing well for himself. I always considered him intelligent and ambitious. I consider myself kinda intelligent and kinda ambitious too, but the thing I value most is kindness.

The official pizza day (for the entire class) was usually really cool and really fun. I really ever only missed pizza day once. We would get our order forms a few weeks in advance and we gave our money and the order form to our teachers. It would help nearby businesses and mostly everyone would have a good time on pizza day, or so I thought. I was lucky in that I could have money for pizza day most of the time. There was one kid in my class that would leave during pizza day to go to the bathroom or something. I would order 3 slices and a pop, sometimes a bag of chips as well. The slices weren't gigantic, so three slices wasn't a lot even for a kid. I followed this classmate. I was catching on pretty quick why this kid would leave. There was no pizza form filled out for this kid. I offered a slice from my three and a few chips. I felt stingy and only gave one slice and some chips.

Looking back and knowing what I know now, I can only feel regret. I wish I gave more and not once, but all the time. I should have given two slices, three slices, and maybe only kept some of the chips and some of the pop. I often think back to the nice Jewel song and the lyrics about kindess.

These pizza scissors are great. The main motivation for me buying them was that I didn't like using the circular cutter for cutting. The circular cutter involved putting pressure and applying the sharp edge on the surface beneath the pizza, whether it was parchment paper or the baking sheet. Mostly, it felt like I would damage the surface beneath the pizza. Another problem was sometimes a baking sheet would have a lip around the perimeter, and it would make it difficult for a round cutter to cut through to the outer edge of the crust.

These Dreamfarm Scizza pizza scissors work amazingly well for this and were able to cut from crust to crust easily and all the way through. Sometimes, with a circular cutter, I had to cut across the crust a few times to cut all the way through. I also didn't like having those foot long double handle curved blade cutters either because they seemed a bit dangerous to have around the kitchen. These pizza shears were a dream to use and really come in handy.

Nest Wired Doorbell Camera Ash, Second Generation
kaizen
A great camera that is easy to install for home security, gives peace of mind
A long time ago, I went to see my dentist. I was with the dental assistant and she would always be delighted to see us. She lived near us, but the dental office was a few towns over where she had to commute in to. It was autumn and we were talking about holidays and the topic of Halloween came up. She asked what we were dressing up as and our plans for Halloween. Because of our age, we didn't go to Halloween parties, but dressed up and went trick-or-treating in our neighbourhood. She mentioned that her boyfriend didn't like the idea of trick-or-treating because he was from a different culture.

That Halloween, we would get dressed up and start heading out as the sun was setting. We had our bags and buckets ready and we were going door-to-door trick-or-treating. Just about every house in our neighbourhood had their lights on or had decorations out front. There were only a handful of houses that had their lights off because they were not home or not celebrating Halloween that year. We would walk past and go to the other houses. I ended up getting some full size candy bars, cans of pop, and small bags of chips in addition to various other candies and chocolate bars.

We would be out for hours and ended up in neighbourhoods somewhat far from home. I started getting tired and already had a lot of candy and treats, so we started on our way home. We got home and started walking up the driveway and immediately my mother was there and she opened the door to stand in the doorway to welcome us home. It's like my mother knew roughly when we would get home or more than likely she was watching out the window the entire time. House cameras weren't very prevalent back in the day. She had stayed home and handed out candy while us kids went out. It was normal in those days for kids to go trick-or-treating on their own if they weren't super young. Kids would just go trick-or-treating without parental supervision. There would be enough adults out with their kids and they would somewhat watch out for other kids.

When I got older and moved into a house of my own, we needed a camera out front, so we ended up getting a standard security camera. It was a bit of a hassle because I needed to get it mounted into the brick/mortar and figure out wiring and powering it. It was a Wi-Fi camera, but wiring was still required to keep it powered.

Eventually, I ended up getting a doorbell camera, Nest Doorbell camera, wired. There was a battery operated version too but I decided that the wired version would be best. I could install the doorbell camera into the existing electrical system for the house's doorbell and it would pretty much be powered 100% of the time. A battery system would run out and the battery would need to be recharged. It seemed to be difficult to maintain a battery doorbell so a wired version would so much better. This is especially true for cold climates where battery life could drop to half or less. Besides, the wired doorbell version was already big enough in size. It was good in a way in that it is fairly visible to anyone walking by or approaching, but not comically large, so it was good enough in size to act as a deterrent. The battery version was even larger in size than the wired version to accommodate the battery, so the wired version was also better in my opinion based on size.

For installation, I would go to find the electrical panel for the house and shut off the corresponding breaker to the doorbell. I used a Klein Tools Voltage Tester to check the wires to confirm that there was no electricity running through the wires. The doorbell wires run at 16V, so I wanted a specific voltage tester that could check for electricity at that voltage. I took off the original doorbell to the house and unscrewed the wires that connected to it. I loosened the back screws of the doorbell camera and I attached the wires from the original doorbell and tightened the screws in order to attach the wires securely. Then I attached the camera to the provided mount plate and wedge mount and to the door frame and then I attached the tiny security screw to lock in the camera for security. I connected the camera to my home Wi-Fi network using the app and it worked pretty easily.

The angle position of the camera was okay, but not great because of how the original doorbell mount and wiring was set up. The doorbell faced inwards towards the door frame as opposed to outward into the portico. I ended up getting a Wasserstein mount so that it would alter the angle and make the camera face outward even more so. I managed to add the Wasserstein mount to the original wedge that helps to turn the doorbell camera outwards. It wasn't a perfect viewing angle, but when I combined the wedge and Wasserstein mount, it gave a pretty decent viewing angle overall out the front door with a pretty good view of the entryway.

This doorbell camera has improved my life because it gave me piece of mind. It does 24 hour recording, so that I could have incidents recorded if I am ever out or asleep. I could go back to see events that have been recorded and I could see a live view of whoever was at the front door at anytime. I could do so without revealing who I am or revealing that I am home for privacy reasons. It also added that extra level of security in case I needed to get footage of any occurrences at the door or on my property and it acted as a deterrance. It was also useful for anyone else in the household to see the festivities of Halloween if they were sitting down and not the one getting up to answer the door to hand out treats. I like this camera a lot as it has great resolution for capturing faces and other details and has a good light sensor and works well in low light. It also had a nifty feature where I can shut off the doorbell button for up to 3 hours. All in all an excellent purchase.

Falari Diabetic Neuropathy Non-Binding Socks

Excellent Socks for Comfort Without Binding on the Calves and Causing Irritation
I must have been in grade 3 or grade 4 and when I got home on a Friday after school. It would either be a regular Friday or a Friday before a long weekend. Sometimes, I would just crawl onto the top part of the sofa as it was against the wall and take off my socks. My socks were pulled up during the day and they left crease marks on my lower legs and they would be irritated and itchy. I was tired and didn't think much of it at the time and passed out. When I woke up, both of my parents would be home and I would get to spend time with them and the rest of my family.

Years later, I went to sleep at night and ended up sleeping in. I relied on the snooze button on my alarm clock too much. I was getting dressed and trying to find a pair of socks, but nothing matched. It made me a little more stressed out. Finally, I found a pair of clean and matching socks, got my shoes on, and grabbed my bag and I was out the door. I got to the door of the lab a little late. There was no lab meeting that day, so I was a little bit lucky. I spoke to my lab manager and then got seated at my lab bench. I prepared an experiment and got to an incubation step. The incubation step was an hour long, so I went to the cafeteria and grabbed lunch while the process was running on the lab machinery.

I finished up my experiment and it was the end of the day. I got my things and walked out and got to the cafeteria of another laboratory. I went and ordered some food and a can of pop. I quickly ate my dinner and went inside the other laboratory. There was a piece of machinery that was in high demand by some of the post-docs and Ph.D. students. I couldn't work out a proper schedule for this machine in the daytime because the other lab members had priority. So, I had to wait until the end of the day when mostly everyone else had gone home except for the technician, a summer student, and a post-doc. I said, "Hi" to my friend in this lab and a post-doc approached us and told us to make sure we ate dinner. My friend was going home to eat dinner and I thanked the post-doc and told her that I had eaten in the cafeteria beforehand and also had a snack for later.

I got started on my experiment and was able to run about 3 sets of different testing conditions consecutively. I recorded my results and ended up sleeping for about 45 minutes at the lab bench with my lab coat on for added warmth. I was really sore and uncomfortable. Some post-docs were showing up at the lab at this time. I greeted them and headed out. I headed back to the first lab and ran some more experiments. I finished at around 4 p.m. and then went home. I took my socks off and noticed that the lower calves and shins were red and irritated with binding marks from the socks. It was a Friday and I was very tired, so I passed out on my bed.

I didn't think I used regular socks much after that. If I did, I would use athletic socks and kept them somewhat low on my ankles so that they wouldn't bunch up and bind to my calves and shins to make them itchy and irritated. The problem with this was I didn't like the feeling so much of having the socks so low on my legs. These diabetic socks improved my life because they made it so that my calves and shins could be kept comfortable if I had a busy day at work or was just out for a long period of time and had socks on. They also came in handy when it was winter and I wanted to have socks on for the whole day to stay warm and didn't want to my calves all irritated at the end of the day.

They seemed great and to be good quality to me and seemed durable. They were made of a blend of cotton, polyester and elastane. They were also made in Pakistan. One benefit to them was that you can buy a bunch of them in a multipack which was what I did and have just that sock type in a particular drawer. The drawer would be filled with only that type of sock and when running late, just grabbing two socks from that drawer meant that I had a matching pair of socks. It was good too that the socks were black because they could be used in a more formal setting. It didn't bother me too much if I were using them in a casual environment because I normally had pants on that mostly covered the socks anyway.

I No Longer Have to Hurt My Fingertips or Fingernails to Open a Pop Can Tab
In grade school, we had a lunch hour, but mostly, we were allowed to eat at our desks for 30 minutes and then we were kicked out of class to go play on the school grounds. A classmate didn't have a lunch and I didn't have a lunch either. I had special permission at the time to leave school grounds, so I went for a walk off site. Unfortunately for me this would be a long walk. I walk for awhile and passed by a convenience store. I kept walking and walking and finally made it to the pizza place and ordered a pizza and two pops. The pizza seemed to take forever, partly because it was made fresh and partly because I knew that the lunch hour would be coming to an end soon and I still had a long way to walk while carrying a small pizza back and two pops. I got the pizza and pop, paid and made my way back to school.

I got back and shared the pizza and pop with the classmate. The pop can lids used to have a double tab system to open. I thought it was kinda weird. Eventually, most pop producers switched to a different type of tab system that seemed easier to use, however, sometimes the tab was a little bit sharp.

My girlfriend and I used to drink a lot of pop from pop cans. We actually didn't mind drinking and consuming lots of sugar at the time. Evnetually, we sorta grew out of that sugar phase and started eating healthier. One of things my girlfriend starting drinking was carbonated water. There was a really great imported brand that I liked, but it was expensive. They sometimes had large plastic bottles, but they didn't seem as fresh after being opened. Cans were the way to go. Sometimes, we would go with a cheaper brand of carbonated water, but the tab on the can was quite sharp. It wasn't at the point where I would get cut and bleed, but it felt really uncomfortable on the finger when opening.

I grabbed these can openers because it made opening beverage cans so much easier and more comfortable. They are a small lever with a sharp end for getting under the beverage tab and are made of a dense and high-quality plastic so that you don't have to risk hurting or cutting your fingertips trying to open a beverage can. They are a real gamechanger for me. They are made in Denmark.

Brix CanPop Pop can opener
